Mark Hennessy from the Irish Times reckons that, because of the stance taken during this Lisbon campaign, the IFA have lost influence, power and friends in Europe.
Well done lads!

I agree entirely. Whatever about the response here from their pals in FF/FG (won't be positive anyway!) they have torn up 30 years of hard-won respect and influence in Brussels.
A sheer catastrophe for the IFA and for the farming community

SIPTU aren't positioned particularly well in the partnership talks with their messing either - we're not anti the treaty, in fact we think it's a good treaty, in fact we think Ireland won't be able to get a better deal - we just won't endorse a Yes campaign unless the govt. gives in to our domestic demands !!

Can't see teh IFA finished off just yet. All that remains to be seen is will Fianna Fail honour its commitment to veto WTO.
If its anything like an election promise i bet the farmers will be shafted. :P

Fianna Fail, Fine Gael. Two cheeks of the same arse
The IFA famously had access in the EU no other European farmers' organisation had. That is over.
Clever guys. CAP renegotiation is about to start and you have ensured you have no influence. Talk about turkeys voting for Christmas.

Ah the Irish Times. The great protector of Irish farming and agriculture. They should stick to talking about their yuppie, middle class friends in Dublin.Originally Posted by Deep Throat
