That's an odd thing to say. If there is a low turnout, and most people claim ignorance, then there's plenty of reason for one of the discussions to be about whether the system should be changed. It's not treasonous or anything to ask whether the constitution should be changed, y'know.
It sounded to me like the elites want to be able to treat us like they do in the rest of Europe where they don't have to consult us and can just give away all their independence that was hard fought for to the unelected set in Brussels. The thing is though, that if Lisbon goes through, I think we have just had our last EU-related referendum. From then on, the govt can just use Article 48 to get around it by changing the text of the existing treaty to give up more vetoes including taxation. When we complain, they will say 'but sure you voted for this when you said yes to Lisbon'. Then people like me can say 'I told you so' as taxes go through the roof. But sure FF and FG will still be happy as larry, as it makes them such good Europeans!!!

No, not at all, but the public should be consulted on that change. Even more so if it goes beyond change onto negation as the Lisbon Treaty would do.
Marxists, Feminists and Leftists operate on the basis of "liberating tolerance" - i.e. their ideas should be tolerated, and any opposition should be suppressed.

This thread is pointless, the star reported no such thing, and the rest of the comments are all over the place.
