I NEED to know!!
Hoping against hope that it has failed, but I don't think I can wait much longer for the result!

Correct me if I am wrong, but did Claire Byrne on the Breakfast Show on Newstalk say a few moments ago (just before Gabley came on) say that there are exit-polls that give conflicted results with yes and no winning in each?
"The signs tell me that its probably a yes" - Dave McCullogh
McCullagh.
Morning Ireland is putting way too much importance on turnout. Can they not see that dynamics have changed considerably since Nice I and II?
RTE showing its bias as always. David McCullough picking up on woman saying something silly about european army in Galway vox pop. He didn't refer to the people who said they felt uncomfortable with the way EU is going etc.
Yes willanto. And already the line about a turnout below 50 percent being used as an excuse to silence us by taking our vote away. Unbelievable arrogance.
If they want to analyse the reasons motivating people who voted No, they might analyse the reasons of the people who did not vote. Many were strong lifelong party people who did not trust their hierarchy's instructions this time but could not 'turn' to a No vote. Their abstention was a deliberate withholding of consent - not apathy.
'To attempt to rerun a referendum as a means of reversing the democratic decision taken by the people would be rightly regarded as an affront'. Dick Roche TD 21.12.01
There's was a lot of tripe on RTE Radio 1 about "whether we should have referendums on international Treaties". Ah yeah, sure so what if it negates our National Constitution, that's just a minor detail. Anyway this essentially the EU Constitution - a new Constitution - we voted on; it's not a regular treaty at all.
Similar to their argument that the Dutch Government declined to have a referendum "because there wan't enough in it". Bull - the electorate was declined an say because they knew such a revolutionary, encompassing document as the Lisbon Treaty would be rejected.
Marxists, Feminists and Leftists operate on the basis of "liberating tolerance" - i.e. their ideas should be tolerated, and any opposition should be suppressed.
Telling people that their sons would be conscripted into a European Army was one of the extraneous points used by some on the "No" side of the Lisbon debate.Originally Posted by willanto
If only it could be true. My own experience on the campaign trail is that the no vote faded in the last few days. A tremendous pity but the greater experience of the yes side in dealing with last minute persuasion especially in the general election last year counted for a lot when the crunch came.
