How do they know that? Im going to say more people in their 30's voted today then because all my mates voted today and didn't vote on nice 2.
This is my great hope. I feel that the young like me (I am 28) are more concerned with Irish sovereignty than the elders. We don't have the latters sense of being beholden to Europe from the begging-bowl days. Our politicians' attitude to Europe is also a hangover from those days. I think we need a more pragmatic, questioning attitude to European integration to take account of the new times we have lived in for the past 10 yrs. Europe is good - but not everything handed down from Brussels is good. Like the 13 yrs of corruption during which the EU Court of Auditors has failed to sign-off on the EU accounts.
28? I though you were like 15 or 16...!Originally Posted by FutureTaoiseach

It is encouraging, regardless of the outcome, it was good to see people realise that our sovereignty is not an obscure concept, but something that is worth defending and not surrender without good reason.Originally Posted by FutureTaoiseach

I'm reporting an overwhelming victory for the non-voters.
60% not voting, a crushing defeat for people that give a **** about Europe.

The majority cannot therefore be the elite.
Declan Carty has just reported that Paddypower have paid out on a Yes vote.
I suppose they could be doing this for publicity, but I can't imagine how much publicity they will get at this time of night.
Any other reasons why they might have done this?
My understanding of pre-result payouts is that the bookies want to get the money back to the punters as quickly as possible so that they can make other bets.
A demagogue is someone who will preach doctrines he knows to be untrue to men he knows to be idiots.
Didn't another bookie aparently pay out on a No win yesterday![]()
