    Desperation and smear continue

I was returning home to Galway today from the big smoke when I saw a poster on the round about by the Marriot. It was between 3-4 feet wide, 7-8 feet tall and had the Fianna Fail colours (red, green and white) on it.

It read "Thought for the week, Libertas are spending 1.3 million on a 'no' vote. Why?"

This just truly the most ludicrous and petty stunt in a long line of petty pathetic stunts.

It's a good question, and one we're certainly not going to get the answer to here.
Stand for election or get yourself selected as a candidate. Failing that, manage a successful campaign. Then you can come the big man anywhere. Not before.

Oh for crying out loud! If they want to ask us why, as hundreds, if not thousands of people on the street gave been, why don't they? They can come and ask any if the HUNDREDS of people who have joined up with us because they believe our nessage, that we're for democracy, accountability and transparency in Europe and we're for a NO vote to the Lisbon treaty, nothing more than that.

I dunno what the reaction is with the rest the guys to this latest stuft but this kind of rubbish does nothing more to strengthen our resolve that we've got the yes side scared.
    A poster of some consequence...

And who's funding Alliance for Europe?

The figure of 1.3 million is from you guys (references available if required).

Libertas should do the decent thing and get this off the agenda and reveal all now even at this late stage. The alliance for Europe has offered to publish details of its bank account up to the present day, Libertas have refused to do this. (as per the press today)

The alliance for Europe are also an authorised body for the purposes of the referendum something Libertas did not even apply to do (see thread on this topic) - they obviously had issues with the constitution rule and especially the 300 members rule - I can think of no other reason other than possibly political naivety why they would not have applied and considering the experience of those involved I'd find it hard to believe that naivety was the cause.

Also, there is a story doing the rounds that Libertas have been asked over 20 qestions in recent days about elements of their finances which they have refused to answer - I'm fairly certain this is more than a rumour considering the people that have been mentioning it to us.

What crap. The only agenda here is to mention funding to give the appearance of impropiety. Do the decent thing and argue the issues.

I and many others in the alliance have done so publicly, anyone that has ever heard me speak either on radio interviews public debates, public meetings etc. can easily confirm that I always debate on the issues.
