The treaty makes the EU more accountable not less as it gives mre power to the parliment. If anything the undemocratic elements that should be got rid of if the thing were to be completely fair to the individual citizen, democratic and accountable are ALL weighted in Irelands favour. It's pure madness to vote no form an Irish perspective.

Lisbon Treaty means we the Irish people would transfer our ultimate right to decide in 50 new policy areas.

That is a diminuation of democratic right to self-determination.

In Lisbon we hand over the family inheritance with the house and get an ice cream in return.

It's a bad deal. Send them back tae think again.

A person becomes a citizen of another country through a process called naturalisation which usually requires the prospective citizen to swear allegiance to the new state .
It is a voluntary process where the applicant and the host country both agree in advance the terms of that naturalisation.

The important point is the application is a voluntary one.

If there is a Yes vote on thursday I become a citizen of a new politcal entity even if I dont want to.

My understanding is that I am prevented from renouncing EU citizenship as it is combined with Irish citizenship,so the only way I can do it is by renouncing my Irish citizenship.I want to remain an Irish citizen.

I do not have any allegiance to this new EU political entity but a YES vote forces me to become a citizen of it.
