When I voted that the party support a yes vote, I voted because of my impression at the time of the document presented. FF didn't factor into my choice, or the debate on the day. I had no interest or incentive in voting to appease FF, since I'm not in government.

This was the first time the party had ever taken a vote of the membership on the issue of a European Treaty (previously the position had been agreed by the party's policy making body). Opinion had been changing on the topic for a long time and this was just a reflection of that.
