I believe in lizards, well, I've seen plenty of the little buggers, about 6 inches long, drops a tail when caught, eats insects. That sort of thing. There are even 6 foot lizards but I haven't met a komodo dragon face to face.Originally Posted by rhonda15

It might be worth bearing in mind that if the EU goes to War with another power block we will have fiddle all chance of hiding behind the wall.
We will be expected to play our part economically, politically and strategically. We might be able to opt out of direct military involvement simply because in real terms our armed forces are so small as to make no difference.
But I just don't think any Taoiseach could turn around to the other members of the Council in the middle of a huge international crises with the deployment of EU Battle Groups imminent and shrug his shoulders to say:
Sorry lads we're Neutral!![]()

Lads, chill
The loverly people in the YouKnighted Kingdom are a tad Europhopic... well, a healthy majority, about 70% in fact. The Beeb has not said diddlysquat without No.10's permission since... well.. erm, the Gilligan affair, for which they all got shafted despite the fact that AG was broadly right on the money (that's the warmongers in Downing St for ya, aw shucks).
Gordon Brown will be wearing his brown underwear next thurs and praying to bejaysus that we all vote No, because then he doesn't have to face the gen. public back at home. Who are less than fond of him at the mo' and this will be seriously exacerbated by their feeling a little miffed that they don't get a chance to paste the Eurocrats one.
Anyone spot a teeny weeny agenda here?? after all Gordy and company limited are all well aware that most of us get the Beeb over here, plus the newspapers, and that, unlike John Bull and compadres, we have limited patience for military posturing. The UK shares this limited patience, but only when the posturing is coming from the French, they have no problem AT ALL if it emanates from the US
Funny that!
The floggings will continue until morale improves
Sure expat girl but the French have their agenda too, and were keeping it schtum til after our vote. So fair enough if it suits the Brits to out one of their neighbours to the neighbour on the other side of the garden. All part of the game. At least we know now, and don't face finding this in the Irish papers for the first time next Friday.
Always assuming that they pick up and print the story before then, which now as I type this, may not happen. More agendas here than you can shake a stick at.
Would it not be a far better thing to have the same amount of effort going instead into a common health equipment procurement agency? Why favour guns over medicine?
'To attempt to rerun a referendum as a means of reversing the democratic decision taken by the people would be rightly regarded as an affront'. Dick Roche TD 21.12.01
The French want to "beef up" EU capability because their own military is cr@p and falling apart. They were a disaster in the first Iraq war (all posturing an no significant contribution) and have been partying at Kabul Airport whilst the Brits and Americans etc do all the fighting.
No wonder they want to have a European army with an HQ in Brussels directed by France.
And Irish troops will make excellent canon fodder for the more dangerous missions.

Calling all "conspiracy theorists" - they are dissecting the assassination of Robert Kennedy on RTE 2.
VERY INTERESTING - RTE is broadcasting MK-Ultra, CIA machinations.
Must see!

yeah, I've been accused of pedantry before. And nit-picking. Well, if our ancestors were not nit-pickers, we'd still be covered in lice.![]()
