And why would it matter if they were Nigerian?

If you have to ask why Corkman then I really can't help you.
No I'm not joking these guys were Africans - three of them in their own car parked round the corner. One of them was on the mobile and lets just say his accent was most certainly not Irish.Originally Posted by kerrynorth
I could see they had leaflets about something or other and when I got home one was in the letterbox with De Rossas mug on the cover.
It had the Labour Rose motif and :

Which makes you wonder who is funding Labour's campaign - them or foreign groups abroad?![]()

I don't think anyone's trying to make a racist point. Rather, the point being made is the comparative lack of support for the Treaty among the Irish people. And while it is true that these individuals may be Irish citizens, the balance of probability, on a purely statistical basis, suggests otherwise.
Please do spell it out anyway.Originally Posted by kerrynorth

I was volunteering handing out leaflets asking for a No vote over the weekend, and was alarmed at the vast majority of people who were apathetic towards the treaty, a lot of people who just weren't interested in the treaty, were "sick of it" or just plain weren't voting. Asides from that, i met a very large number of people who were intending to vote no (including a number of people who claimed membership of fianna fail), and quite a few people who were interested in learning more about the treaty, but hadn't decided which way to vote yet.
I only counted six people who declared their full intent to vote yes, but none of these were willing to discuss reasons for their decision, despite one punter whose argument was that being related to an Taoiseach was a valid reason to vote yes. (for fear of being ejected from the family perhaps?)![]()
The main demographic of people expressing an interest in the referendum seemed to be young people aged 18-25 and most people over the age of 35. The majority of the people i met between these age demographics (ie-25-35) were the ones that showed the most apathy towards the treaty and who regularly stated that they woud not be using their vote on June 12.
I'd take a leaflet from everyone except the Coir crowd. No intention of giving any aid or comfort to Youth Defence. Who were you handing out leaflets for?
In these circumstances, what would Michael Collins do?
I hear some mightly attractive no voters will be out and about next week...![]()
A poster of some consequence...
I predict a major upset next week.![]()
