Re: "Vote No to Giscard's Lisbon swindle" Sindo Article

He's a memberof Seanad Éireann and he needs to rely on the Church of Ireland Gazette to inform himself of the activities of the European Commission?

Like, we will lose a commissioner. For five out of 15 years Ireland will be without a voice at the Commission. The response from the Yes lobby -- that all countries will suffer the same fate -- is hardly a reason for approving Ireland's loss.
True, if it were Ireland's loss. But the Commissioner that happens to be Irish is not there batting for Ireland, but the general European interest, as per TEU Article 17:
    1. The Commission shall promote the general interest of the Union and take appropriate initiatives to that end.
    ...
    3. ... In carrying out its responsibilities the Commission shall be completely independent. Without prejudice to Art. 18(2), the members of the Commission shall neither seek nor take instructions from any Government or other institution, body, office or entity. ...

    Loike, thats really bad.

And the Yes side is making a pitch for the young vote too:

Tidy up your EU, loike now or else.

And if you don't - I'll ask you again!!

    THANK YOU !

one of the independants was on the sunday supplement , for the life of me his name escapes but i think he represents north dublin and he IS one of the lads supporting the government.

sam was giving his now usual yes camp peices, bringing up jim corr etc, when this bloke mentioned the junior minister and what she said though he' didnt know her name.

cue fionna looney asking if it was sharon corr. (by the way, just LISTEN to her reasoning for voting yes. even the texters ripped the piss out of her)

i think the guy actually threw sam smyth as he came of as a no voter , which is weird for a gov rep, and he took a dig at the media for how biased and patronising it was against the no camp. im pretty sure he asked how much jim was paid by the yes camp to do his interview its pretty much the only NO comment on the whole show the last few weeks.

its up on podcast at i tunes under sunday supplement .

in regards to shane ross im surprised hes on the no side. just like myers, gaybo, moore macdowel, jim power etc. its amazing how many well known people are almost ashamedly coming out now.

maybe the fact the thing could be defeated is giving them backbone.
