Joint SDLP-Labour Press Conference for Lisbon

Today the SDLP and the Labour Party came together in the Stormont Hotel for a joint press conference to show their shared support for the Lisbon Treaty.

In my opinion it was a very welcome move and shows the strength and cohesion of the Party of European Socialists.
We should be shaping an Ireland based on full respect for the human and civil rights of all our people, an Ireland of which Larkin and Connolly would be very proud.

Stupid of the SDLP to get involved in this. Lisbon is proving as popular as a paedo at a kiddies party on the doorsteps, and with those in the North, like those in Britain, having been outrageously denied a vote on this after being promised one, there is absolutely no upside for the SDLP to be canvassing on this.
There is little enough incentive for Labour to do so either, though there is at least a vote in their jurisdiction. Silly move by the SDLP, guaranteed only to send a percentile or two of floating voters off into the Shinners arms, more's the pity.

At least it has the SDLP co-operating with another Labour party, instead of all this dalliance with Fianna Fail.
In fact I wonder was this event organised with another agenda in mind?
If there is a future, it will be Green.

Now now Rock I'm sure you would know that the SDLP can be a member organisation of the PES without being in the Parliamentary Party.

I actually think that it's more valuable for us to have no MEPs in the PES (which has 215 MEPs) than for PSF to have two MEPs in the EUL-NGL (which has a whopping 41 MEPs)

Hmm, I see why you would support Lisbon with that type of mathematical reasoning
