FG Encourages Members to Rig Electronic Lisbon "Vote"

FG have sent out a private memo to party supporters informing them of new voting terminals (which they are calling Opinionators) that will be installed in the Ilac Centre and Blackrock Shopping Centre to allow people to express their voting intention in the Lisbon Treaty.

In an email from Terry Murphy, Fine Gael Dublin Director, he asks FG supporters to rig the voting machine to look like their will be a yes vote in advance of the launch tomorrow.

Terry Murphy wrote: "It would be extremely helpful if members and/or their family and friends could make a point of visiting these sites, and record a YES vote! (Conscientious objectors can help the Party by not pressing any button, if they can't press the Yes one!)

The launch is in Blackrock tomorrow afternoon - so, it would be particularly helpful if members in that area could make sure that the Yes vote is well ahead of the No vote - before the Party Leader arrives! (not to mention the media)"

Not only that, Mr Murphy seems to suggest that he wants FG supporters to rig the vote for the duration of the Lisbon campaign.
Terry Murphy wrote:"Obviously, these sites are highly visible - and we would appreciate members' voting efforts for the remainder of the campaign."

The email was forwarded to me by a Dublin FG member whom I know from my time as an FG member. Dynamite or what????

You're suggesting that a political party has sought to influence the votes of its members as well as the general public? Well I never.
Dan Sullivan. I was back but we still couldn't all have a vote.

Well I suppose to give FG some credit the words "conscientious objector" is actually in their vocabulary. Unlike FF.

There the only ones that I am aware of Edo. Are you going to vote 'early and often' yourself?

Somehow I could imagine if Libertas ( still do not like em!) did this, it would be a huge issue with the Yes people! I mean, they have a bus and people went mental so if they started rigging votes, that would cause a riot!
Food tastes better when you put it all together! It's the one best mayonnaise!

Typical of cynical tactics of the "yes" campaign elites. Today its the opinionators - tomorrow the elections?

Is this a sign that FG is returning to its roots?

Precisely, if any group of the No groups did this it would be on the 6.1 News as a leading story.

Re: FG Encourages Members to Rig Electronic Lisbon "Vote"

well its not like anyting else in the media has been reported fairly so why start now?

i just heard sharon ni bheolain ask william boyd barret why people shold listen to him, prefacing the question with the remark "a failed dail candidate" and then referenced garret the great next to her !

i always knew the media in this country was bought and paid for but at least they TRIED to look impartial. that remark was an absolute disgrace and contributed nothing to the debate (which by the way garret was allowed waffle through over the time allotted, the only reason it didnt bother me was he sounded like a befuddled old fool. )

i wouldnt belive anyting being produced on this in the public domain till after the referendum.
