    Fergus Finlay on Treaty..

.. in today's Examiner supports it and does a fairly clinical analysis of much of the hype used by the opponents,
    Here

I'd be interested in what the " No " camp would have to say in response. Please refrain from the name - calling etc. that has been such a feature of other threads on this subject.

I'd say simply that he's for the treaty, and he's cherry-picking tiny bits to highlight in support of his case, while glossing over other glaring anti-Treaty arguments.

" Sure, there’ll be some changes in Ireland’s representation and in the voting arrangements by which decisions are made."

And in that one line, he skips over three of the most fundamental changes in the Treaty - the new QMV arrangements, the loss of vetoes and movement away from the original ideal of consensus action in a further range of areas, and the loss for 5/15 years of an Irish Commissioner.

Obviously a very balanced, well thought out, and well-considered piece What a load of nonsense.

I see he left out the bit on page 4972 where the Marseillaise becomes our national athem and an "e" is added to the end our the island's name to "streamline" and "democratise" the country. I'm sure it'll be in my next Libertas leaflet.

Europe already has an anthem.. Ode to Joy

They tried to sneak a few more "centrepoints" of a Federation into the Constitutional Treaty until the French and Dutch told them where to stick it..

But hey, we get the leftovers and are expected to buy it as a top class dish
