Kenny at Westland row, 7.30am this morning

On my way in this morning I drove past Pearse Station, and Enda Kenny was there handing out leaflets on Lisbon with Lucinda Creighton, and what apeared to be a small army of people in blue t-shirts.

Now that's what I call putting your money where your mouth is.......
I hope our new Taoiseach shows a bit more commitment than his party has up to this point

Well done lads... if the Treaty passes, Cowen takes all the credit for it, despite FG doing all the work, and he gets his leadership off to a winning electoral start

if it fails, Cowen lets FG complain bitterly, and leaves them out of touch with public sentiment, while he plans for the next one, while sendign half his PP out to say they voted No too....

Win-win for Cowen, Lose-lose for FG

More of this sort of hard work and less of the stupid stunts he pulled last night and voters might start to take the man seriously.

Yup - typical Fine Gael with their values and commitment to their view of the national interest.

Im starting to suspect you're a complete clown.
'Hinda'. Sat-nav'. 'At the wrong station'.

How can someone cram such retardedness into 1 sentence?

That's a pretty lazy analysis. Fine Gael's campaign on the second Nice Treaty vote earned it major kudos and since it was the first campaign since the 2002 election Enda Kenny used it as a means of getting the troops fired up, energised, and out on the streets. I would imagine that he is using this campaign as a means of keeping the grassroots energised ahead of battles next year.

And remember FG is very well connected in European terms. If the referendum is passed, and FG are seen to have led the charge, then it can only boost the standing and influence of their MEPs in Brussels, and of various party surrogates who still have various degrees of involvement in European affairs (Sutherland, Bruton, Dukes, Fitzgerald)

So there is quite a lot to be gained by FG by a win out of this (in naked political terms).

What will SF gain with a No vote? If there is a No, then Ganley and McEvaddy will take 99% of the plaudits. So whats in it for you?

As someone I know told me recently (a hardened No voter), SF are only opposing this treaty for the sake of it, because in reality they are now as mainstream as any of the major parties, and are using this as a desperate attempt to cast themselves as being apart from them.
