Re: if no to lisbon campaign is right, is it a bad thing?

So the French and Germans can once more bestride the world stage? ----- the german, fnch , irish, danish yeah - our collective morals might prevent another balkens or rawanda, been impotent just means we can be dictacted to by the yanks

political crony from Brussels that nobody voted for who is only answerable to an unelected gang of scum? - ---- i'll conceed that point, but i still think our elected politicians aren't much better

    5. The Charter of Fundamental Rights will override the Irish Constitution
so we get a modern human rights based charter that overides a biased, badly written pile of crap!
It is the Irish Constitution. Not some piece of Eurotrash written by Brussels parasites. Show some respect. ----- respect! our consitiution is overwritten rubbish, we should have stuck with the one page declaration read out on the steps of the GPO in 1916, it was simple and easy to read and meant something

6 the creation of the much-heralded European Public Prosecutor and a European federal judicial system
so no more "jobs for the boys" legal system, corrupted politicans might even get sent to jail!
They can start with the crooks in the Commission and the European Parliament. And maybe investigate the cronyism and corruption in the EU administration first. ---- so u agree with me that this is a good thing

    7 tax harmonisation
We are Irish. We should have control over our own tax system. ---- dont get your point here sorry

I been devils advocate here obviously but really is it such a bad thing if i vote yes?
To vote 'yes' is to betray Ireland to the gombeenism that had scum like Dick Roche and FF allowing the desecration of Tara. So if you want to betray Ireland, go right ahead. But one day, there will be a bill to pay. And the people who sold out Ireland will pay it in blood. But it will not be their blood but rather the blood of their children who have to fight and die in neo-colonial wars to keep Brussels happy!

Regards...jmcc[/quote] --- you obviously know my position on tara, i'm actually on the hill now with the protest. As regards blood, sometimes blood does need to be spilt in order to stop a greater evil,
"the view that a natural father who is caring for his children in such circumstances has absolutely no constitutional rights or protection in respect of his relationship with his children, and must accept the few crumbs that fall from the table of statutory protection, is increasingly untenable."

    3) I will not vote for something when it has been proven that the EU and our Government secretly planned to hold back issues which they know might effect the vote. No trust there at all.
    4) I will not vote yes on something which could alter a lot of things, based on the word of a proven lying government where many members plan to get jobs there in the future. It is good for their wallets, but is good for the long run of the country.
    1) what way is it heading?
    2) wasn't that the old constitution idea, this is the reform treaty? Dont we elect our own governement to protect our interests, why have them if we're going to have to have a referendum on every decision.
    3) what are they holding back on?
    4) hasn't the EU been good for our wallets too?
    1) In a way that is way too federal
    2) 95% same treaty. This is a European decision as well as a national decision, so it effects all of Europe so all of Europe should be allowed to vote. the fact they ignored two referenda shows contempt for democracy
    3) I do not know what they are holding back, that is the problem.
    4) Well it has, but I seem to remember the 70's and 80's being pretty bad in Ireland so it has been good recently, but we should never assume anything for the future.

The loss of a Commissioner is a bad thing, especially for a small country like Ireland, which traditionally saw the Commissioner as a counterbalance to the dominance of the Big States in QMV votes and in the European Parliament.

The Charter overriding the Irish Constitution means that the Irish people will lose control over our constitutional rights. Even if we change the Constitution, the Charter will still override it, making the exercise worthless.

The halving of our QMV vote which will now be based solely on population size weakens Ireland's voice. The fact that 4 big states will be able to block EU laws they do not want while 11 small countries will be unable to do so shows that the Lisbon version of the EU will reduce Ireland to a province of a Euro empire controlled by the Big States.

The EDA and the mutual defence pact in Article 28 will consign Irish neutrality to history. The defence pact will override the triple-lock provisions of the Irish Constitution.

    Vote no.
