    Taoiseach names June 12th as referendum date

    An Taoiseach has named Thursday June 12th as the date for the Lisbon Treaty referendum.

    Regardless of whether it will be futile, I think it is important that both sides of the debate are heard. Many people on the NO side are very pro-EU but very anti The Lisbon Treaty. Important issues such as this deserve no less.

    Big challenge for the new Taoiseach but smart by Ahern, means new T will be focred to focus on the treaty and not have to field tribunal/ early attacks. The opposition will be playing ball for a few weeks...

    I doubt the tribunal will be of much interest now. It's pretty much game set and match at Dublin Castle.
