First time Voters will vote yes

Poll shows that youth vote will be key to Lisbon success - YFG

RedC research also points to rejection of SF/Green/Libertas scaremongering among young voters

Young Fine Gael (YFG) have said today that an opinion poll published last weekend has illustrated the key role which young and first-time voters will have in securing a Yes vote in the upcoming referendum.

Speaking today, YFG President Barry Walsh has said: "The opinion poll published by the Sunday Business Post last weekend showed some encouraging signs for the Yes campaign, but most strikingly it illustrated the importance that the youth vote will have in securing a Yes vote for the Treaty.

It showed that the strongest support for Lisbon lies in the 18-24 yr old age group, 60% of whom say they will vote Yes. This shows that young voters are far more likely to support the Treaty than the electorate as a whole.

"This gives us many reasons to be confident about the Lisbon Treaty, and the future of Ireland within the European Union. In 2002, young voters demonstrated their enthusiasm for the European project by coming out in their droves to support the Nice Treaty. It is vital that all youth organisations on the "Yes" side to do their utmost to secure a high turnout among these voters on this occasion, and Young Fine Gael will lead this charge in the coming months.

"The poll also shows that young voters are rejecting the lies and scaremongering of the No campaign. Sinn Féin and elements of the Green Party, who lay false claims to being parties of young people, have failed in their attempts to frighten young voters into voting No. The poll also shows that the efforts of Libertas and, other shadowy organisations backed by foreign cash, have been a dismal failure.

"YFG are eagerly awaiting the setting of a date for the Referendum. The rag-bag of miniscule groups favouring a No vote are having no impact on young voters, and we are keen to get the verdict of the people on the Lisbon Treaty at the earliest possible date.

    ENDS

I have to agree with this, from looking at the red c polling and other surveys and questionaires it does look as if the majority of young people in Ireland will vote yes to lisbon. Most people of my age I talk to agree with the lisbon treaty.

Barry Walsh, is that the child who gained entry to an FF press conference during the election under false pretences? He is hardly the best advert for the yes campaign.

    Scaremongering like....

"we will be cast from Europe"
    "the economy will be hurt"

The campaign so far has been nothing BUT scaremongering, and thats because the yes side wont' coutner the no sides points specifically, instead they say the economy will collapse and Europe will hate us.

    False pretences?

Arriving in the imposing lobby of the Treasury Buildings, he signed his name at the security desk and calmly headed upstairs. He was under strict instructions from Fine Gael to identify himself right away - if he was spotted. "I was never asked and never offered the information. I saw no reason to," he said.

I am publically calling on any mod to look into all recent comments made by profiles al and its al. My account was hacked yesterday, i set up a new one to report it, and the new one was hacked. Now the person who has hacked into my accounts has put the signature to 1 of the profiles to " I stole your profile. Twice" and changed avatars to eirigi.

I have gotton these accounts back by requesting a new password on 2 occassions today only for them to be hacked again. How can I argue my point of view on a site were this happens?

Not too mention the legal implications which I am looking into.
