    Ganley demoted by Libertas?

The suspicion that exists that Libertas is a made-up organisation with no real structure or roots seemed to me to be confirmed to some extent today. It seems that Declan Ganley has several different titles for himself within this micro-organisation, or at least that he has been demoted from "President" to "Chairman" in the last few days.

The Libertas website (their proper website, not Politics.ie) says:

    Declan J. Ganley
    President
But in an exceptionally boring letter to today's Irish Times, Ganley signs off as:

    DECLAN GANLEY, Chairman, Libertas
Has Ganley been demoted from his job as President of his own organisation?!

Or is this one of the benefits of being head of an organisation which has only 4 members? Changing your title on a regular basis without anyone noticing?!

What will Ganley's next title be?

In a one man show, titles like these would be inter-changeable.

Compound, do you have nothing better to do.

Suffice to say, he's the boss. Why don't you debate the facts, rather than this rather sad attempt at criticism. You clearly have nothing better to do on a Friday night.

I'll ignore the hypocrisy of this comment for the time being.

Can you tell us: What position does Ganley hold within Libertas? Do you know? Does the man know himself?

Sure wasn't China's first Communist leader known as Chairman Mao? Nobody could ever accuse Mao of being demoted during his rule over China. President is more of an American title, though. Chairman is more European.

Actually, I would say chairman is more British, and President more European. The reason for Mao's title was that he was Chairman of the supposedly totally egalitarian Communist Party. However, one certainly doesn't need a fancy title - Stalin was General Secretary.

It's an entirely reasonable point. If Libertas objects to be considered nothing more than a vanity project or a little ego-booster for Ganley, it should at the very least have clearly defined structures and roles within the organisation. The fact that even Ganley isn't sure what his title is suggests that the criticism of Libertas as an organisation is probably valid.

The simple questions remain unanswered here

    1) What is Ganley's title within Libertas?
    2) Why does he seem to be confused about it?

Libertas have seen fit to castigate and criticise the Yes side on every possible issue, no matter how remote or seemingly pointless. So for David to dismiss such a glaring issue as a "sad attempt at criticism" looks to me to be the latest round of hypocrisy

Surely the Libertas trumpet-blowers on here can answer this?
