EU To Eire: Go F*** Yourselves

Hi from West Eire!- Boston, Mass

Perhaps you folks would be kind enough to explain this to me?

Ireland is the only EU nation which guarantees its citizens a vote on the proposed Lisbon Treaty / EU Constitution, right?

Yet. the EU Parliament has just voted to ignore the results of the Irish referendum.

499 Euro-MPs voted against an amendment in the EU Parliament which would "Undertake to respect the outcome of the referendum in Ireland."

Only 129 voted to respect the will of the Irish voters and 33 abstained.

Eire won't stand for this tyranny from Brussels, surely?

I saw this on Euronews and asked myself the same thing. If they've already voted to imeplement the treaty, why the fu*k are we having a referendum, particularly if its just going to be ignored by European beaurocrats? Surely this can't be democratic?!

    Hi Jim,

Just imagine how those despots in Brussels will really start to behave once the Constitution comes into force, and they then get all that new power...

It's up to you guys now, you know. All of Europe needs you to tell Brussels where to stuff their Con-stitution as it could not go into force as the backlash of a No-vote in Eire couldn't be quashed-even by the despots in Brussels.

<Mod> This topic is being discussed here. </Mod>

<Mod> Moved to Lisbon Treaty Referendum. </Mod>
