Annual TCD Europe Debate - The Lisbon Treaty

The Chairman of the National Forum On Europe, Maurice Hayes, is to chair the annual Europe debate in Trinity College Dublin next Wednesday evening 20th February 2008 at 7.30 pm.

The debate will focus on the Treaty of Lisbon (EU Reform Treaty) in advance of the referendum on it to be held this year. The event is being hosted by the College Historical Society, the Hist, in association with the Forum.

Speakers on the Yes side include former Taoiseach and member of the Alliance for Europe Dr. Garrett FitzGerald, Junior Minister for European Affairs Minister Dick Roche, TD and Fine Gael Spokesperson on Europe Lucinda Creighton, TD

Urging a No vote on the night will be Socialist Party leader Joe Higgins, Declan Ganley, founder of Libertas and David Campbell-Bannerman, Deputy Leader of the UK Independence Party

The debate will take place in the Graduate Memorial Building in TCD. As well as being open to all Trinity College students, members of the public are welcome to attend.

Hmm... I could always go to both. I'm shockingly behind on my europe nerding and given the importance of the damn thing this won't do.
Thanks for the offer, I'll see how I'm fixed.
