    Right-wing loons take on Treaty

One of Youth Defence's subsidary organisations (Coir) is due to launch a campaign against the Lisbon Treaty early next month.
    t
Coir, like Youth Defence, Friends of Youth Defence, Mother and Child Campaigh, TruthTV, Irish Family Press etc. all work out of the HQ of the nut-alliance 60A Capel Street, Dublin 1. (see www.cro.ie)
I had my doubts about whether or not to support the treaty. To see that Youth Defence are against it has changed my mind - I'm for it!

For once dscb you and I are in absolute agreement.

The yes side will be dancing in the streets at the thought of any of the YD lot getting involved. They are to political appeal what crabs are to sex: the last thing you want to have.

Let's look at who's against the Treaty:

Religious fundamentalists (see above) including the 'Abortion is Murder' brigade, self-made (ahem!) man, Decko Ganley and his pals in Libertas (that's liberty to do what exactly?) and Sinn Féin. Oh, and ably aided and abetted by gutter British newspapers like the Daily Oirish Mail and the Oirish Sun and Jean-Marie Le Pen.

Roll on the referrendum. It can't come a moment too soon.

Yes, a rare moment of agreement

I'm sure Dick Roche will be looking forward to taking on the YD mob. Disgusting, repulsive people...and I'm a conservative Catholic!

I think basing your vote on who is for or against the treaty is pretty stupid. Sure by all means use it as an indicator but have you actually read the treaty, tried to understand parts of the treaty or engaged in active discussion about the treaty? If not I respectfully suggest that you do.

I'm not a member of Sinn Fein or Youth Defense, I'm not a raving right-wing not (though relative to some of my friends I might look that way) and have been pro-Europe for as long as I can remember.

I think it's important to remain attached to the facts, rather than perception, in the case of Lisbon.
    A poster of some consequence...

are these guys saying the Lisbon Treaty (or maybe the Charter of Fundamental rights) will mean the ECHR will force abortion on us?

Patricia McKenna and 30% of the side vegetables.

The Far Right are a tiny, tiny proportion of the people on the no side, as are the Far Left. The broad mass are in the Centre. For evidence look at the between 30-53% who voted no in the EU referenda since Maastricht. They were hardly Far Right given that nearly all fo them voted for one of the pro-EU parties. And dubsthcentralboy, don't pretend you were really on the fence. The traditional leadership cult in FF almost always brings you boys into line. You will do what Bertie tells you. And anyway, Patricia McKenna and her supporters in the Greens hardly constitute 'Far Right loons'.
