Where's the sanctions on Austria now that 30 percent of the government is neo-Nazi, eh...? (Guess that suddenly doesn't violate "fundamental values"; think about that.)

It's not who they are, it's what they do. Think about that.

Marmurr, why don't we all post our real names and sue the hell out of each other.

Must I post news articles about "what they do"...? "What they are" and "what they do" are inseparable. And the fact that the EU has done a 180° turn on Austria shows what the "fundamental values" of the EU truly are.

What!? Let's hope you don't pursue a career in the legal profession so.

eurosceptic article 7 and the veto on defence have nothing to do one with another.

Try to understand though a bit before posting anything that goes through your mind.

marmurr1916 there is a saying, that one stupid person throws a stone in the lake and 10 smart ones are trying to get it out. You need another 9, or just forget about the stone!

Sometimes you just cannot change people's opinion, those people that just don't understand reasonable arguments, that do not funciton on logic, but only their deep feelings.

I would have given up a longtime ago in your fight for enlightening some other users.

Article seven is for breach of fundamental freedoms, democracy, rule of law... It has nothing to do wth a right that is enshrined in the treaties of any country to veto.

The procedures of Article 7 are very heavy it will take years, all the 26(27-1) MS to vote against, the European Parliament as well to vote against, the MS in cause not to respond at all, the Commission to be against...

The right to veto is enshrined in the Treaty therefore the ECJ has juridiction on it. The right to veto will be there as long as the Treaty is not changed. It is like in mathematics that 1 + 1 = 2. So eurosceptic if you do not want to understand this, than you can join the No camp, and feed your anger and disappointment even further, but don't be disapointed in the end if Ireland will still have it's right of veto!

I agree though , that not all the policies and provisions of the Treaty are that clear, but in this case, it is as simple as 1 + 1 = 2, or that the oil and water do not mix no matter how hard you try!

I forgot to mention that there is no need for any suplimentary guarantee as the Defence policy foresees unanimity, therefore Ireland has a veto right.
