It is on topic, it is a reason for voting No, the contempt which our leaders have for us that this is the level of argument they stoop to. If I didn't have 100 other reasons, this alone would make me vote No, just out of spite...

Not far off Fine Gael's posters in the Nice re-run, a little girl looking up to the Heavens, and the exortation to 'Vote Yes, For Her Future'... The level of stupidity assumed on the part of the average voter is breathtaking. Unfortunately, after monumental guilt-tripping following the first vote, they did do what they were told. Depressing.
That was the PD black and white poster with a boy and girl in hand me down clothes.

This one.[/quote:29485wz0] There was another one, black and white, with both of them in it warning about their future if you vote No. Of course by voting Yes that is their future in the jobs market with mass immigration.

Hi Catalpa, those of us who want to see the referendum fail would appreciate it if you stayed stum for the next few months, I feel that there is a good chance of it failing.

Yeah . . . about article 48 (cue sound of posters screaming 'for the love of jaysus, noooooo') . . .

This is one tired bunny hopping off to bed. Happy debating, guys.

You will not hear a proper debate between lawyers on this topic - unless for some reason there is another case in the future like that brought by Mr Crotty in 1986. Count yourself lucky!

But if you are a true masochist you could dive into the judgments of the five Supreme Court judges in that case. They show how complex this issue is, and also show how experienced Supreme Court judges can reach diametrically opposed views after hearing all the arguments - here you go.

At this hour it is as good as Ovaltine.
