Myk, Libertas is seeking to fundraise in order to run the campaign. Existing current funds have come from donations to date.

The Electoral Act is very clear on the limits donations to political groups, parties and third-parties (this is pointed out on the Libertas website), and Libertas is fully complying with all legislation.

Is you Jean Marie Le Pen?
No. Definitely not. Libertsa is a pro-Europe organisation.[/quote:1ez3jt1f]

I see that a Mr John McGuirk is listed as one of the press contacts. Constantin Gurdjieff also gets a mention as one of the backers and there's a glowing press article written by Mr R Waghorne, formerly of this parish.

Is this just a dolled-up and better-funded reincarnation of the Freedom Institute?

geraghd and myk, you seem like people who can keep a good close eye on expenditure of money in the public arena: have you any constructive comments on how to deal with this continuing waste of taxpayers' money

Libertas is a pro-Europe organisation that wants greater transparency, accountabilty and democracy in the European Union.
Do they really want more democracy in the European Union?

Do they want the European Parliament representation to be based purely on population irrespective of which country is involved? Would they would be happy with greater QMV?

It's definitely no Freedom Institute, no, it's an organisation that is determined to campaign to promote the Lisbon Treaty, and what it's about.

Is "Libertas" any relation to "Veritas"?

    Pity.

I used to live in southern England and you'd see the UKIP and Vertis ultra nationalists, dressed in pinstripe suits and top hats.

It was quite comical - I thought they might be coming over here too.

Didn't the BNP try campaigning in Ireland at one point?

You mean that no single donor has paid more than €5,000 to this organisation?
