A lesson for history, in the wake of 1798, the Acts of Union that abolished the UK was rejected by the Parliment of Ireland on two occasions, each time it came back.
When it started, it was good for Ireland, as the EU is today, it delivered socially what the EU has delivered economically. Everything bar Emancipation. Our landlords laws were the same as Englands... only they affected Ireland worse due to Absentee Lnadlords and also the oft-unheard of Middlemen - often Catholic - who leased large plots and then subleased as sky high rates.
It was the property boom of its time.
Inside 30 years, the people were staving en-masse, as the British army guarded columns of food and stores of food that was exported to protect the profits of big business.
If thats what happened to the UK in 40 years, where will the EU be in 40 years?
