TDs are not elected on the basis of their views but rather how well known they are. We have a completely flawed system of representation where not one TD of FF, FG or Labour was able to speak out against the Treaty. This party politics is complete hogwash. In fairness it's a wonder our Republic lasted for even this long with such hamsters in Dail Eireann.

Czech leader is holding the door open for the UK to sink Lisbon

The Irish Yes to the Lisbon Treaty has been greeted with whoops of joy by the European establishment from Cork to Cracow. But the long battle over Lisbon is not over.

The spotlight now falls on the Czech Republic and its President, Vaclav Klaus.

EU elites may have successfully defeated democracy for the fifth time – they overrode the Danish No to Maastricht in 1992, the Irish No to Nice in 2001, and the Dutch and French Nos to the European Constitution (the forerunner of Lisbon) in 2005.

Lisbon1+2 Yes 1,966,719 No 1,457,021 hardly a draw, with 509,698 more votes a decisive win for the Yes side on aggregate.

No. We won on away goals. Listen if you want to do a third referendum then elect a Government that rejects the treaty. Last time I looked tht was a Libertas/SF/Socialist Workers Party/Coir coalition. Either say you're wiling to do that or get real

The Shinners might remember this rationale: the No side had to be lucky every time; the Yes side only needed to be lucky once!

That's how it works. What do you not understand about Yes!!!
