    Adams admits mistaken claim

Adams admits mistaken claim on commissioner status | Irish Examiner

SINN FÉIN president Gerry Adams has rowed back from claims Ireland would keep its European Commissioner if the Lisbon Treaty is rejected.

Yesterday, Mr Adams released a press statement which said if Ireland votes No, Ireland "will keep its permanent commissioner".

However, if the Lisbon Treaty is rejected the European Union would revert to reforms included in the Nice Treaty. This means Ireland would lose this guarantee of a seat in the Commission.
At least Adams has admitted he was wrong - now can the other liars on the side of the no campaign admit their mistruths on the minimum wage, abortion, etc?

    Adams admits mistaken claim

I thought this was a re-run of him telling us the IRA were not involved in the murder of Garda Jerry McCabe.

Maybe they'll do it when the YES side admit that Lisbon has fukkall to do with jobs or the economy.

or when coir admit that lisbon does not contain a minimum wage clause nor that 95% of europeans would vote no.

everyone is telling porkies. but the No's are outragous to the point of comical.

A very small section of the NO campaign - and something that Joe Higgins and others have repeatedly corrected (even as late as on the news yesterday evening).

It's a great referendum campaign altogether - on both sides. I haven't laughed so much in ages.

Under Lisbon, the so-called 'Irish' commissioner will be selected by the president of the Commission and can be dismissed by the president at any time if he doesn't do as he is told.

[I agree that Adams is a sorry excuse of a party leader - a one trick pony who is totally at sea on most issues.]
