COIR throwing in the towel? Welcome to FetusLand

Driving thru Waterford, Carlow and Kilkenny Yesterday - I've noticed that all the new COIR posters are the "not on their lives" model with the Fetus etc on it.

Presumably this is the last throw of the dice? - or is it a case of "well we paid for them - we might as well use them"?

Cant understand this - the whole abortion thing is totally defused - particularly by the Bishops statement and action a couple of weeks ago - it was only taken seriously by less than 10% of the population for a limited amount of time.

Will only motivate the seriously Coir hardcore and turn off everybody else - smacks of desperation

The new "We cant trust them" ones are good - only problem is the colour scheme is crap , nobody knows who the "cant trust them" is - and its too late - also - the No campaign is non-existent in many parts of Rural Ireland - you have to follow up on the ground - thats where the Yes campaign messed up big time last year - I have been on so many doorsteps since friday saying that we have been the only crowd to turn and canvass them - me thinks more COIR exaggeration cos my neck of the woods should be prime Coir territory - conservative rural and serious voters - if you are not hitting this - well.................

It is fairly obvious abortion is their number 1 issue & they have tried hard to hide among other issues but when the pressure is on they revert to fanaticism.

As a strong advocate of a Yes vote I would like to sincerely thank Cóir for doing our job for us.

They have been a disaster for the No campaign.

And I as a floating voter(no last time) would like to thank them for making me seriously consider a yes.

I got my first doorstep canvas of the campaign on Saturday from someone from Coir (or at least their ilk I didn't check the actual organisation). She only wanted to talk about abortion.

I'd swear I was talking to a caricature.

A woman in her mid-50s with absolutely no sense of style or appearance. An ill-fitting tweed suit, grey unkempt bob, big thick bottle glasses with heavy rims, socks pulled up to her knees.

I was half looking round for TV cameras from some kind of candid camera show.

If you look at the intense pressure Ireland has been under with Lisbon to integrate further into Europe, it can be argued that it will only be a matter of time before Ireland is forced to adopt all the mores of the rest of the continent. The pace seems to be relentless.

So although it's not in Lisbon, I think anyone who is worried about abortion should be against even an inch further of integration, including Lisbon.

I voted no last time in spite of this crowd and others on the no side.

This time around the no side extremists are pushing me closer to the yes side. They aren't the only reason. I suspect I'll vote yes mainly because of the impact a no vote would have on our ability to get out of this FF induced mess.

Also in the mix will be the likes of Coir, UKIP and to a less degree Sinn Fein telling me to vote No or face doom and gloom.

I guess I believe the yes sides doom and gloom more than the NO side.

Far far too generous! 1930's Ireland is their aim. Don't ye be dancin' now! The Priest will see ye and batter ye.
