    Europe for Ireland Group seeking people to canvass in Ireland & free flights

    The Europe for Ireland Group's website features the offer, which says: "interested in travelling to Dublin to work for the Lisbon Treaty? Ryanair have offered us some free seats for people who volunteer to canvass for the Lisbon Treaty in Ireland."

    Volunteers apparently;

    1. Agree to canvass in writing
    2. Will be put in touch with "Orgs" once they arrive here
    3. Pay their own way if they stay overnight
    4. Pay their own taxes and charges for the free flight ( but Europe for Ireland might cover these)

    News Europe for Ireland - Lisbon treaty referendum Ireland 2009 - Vote Yes A Day in Ireland to Work for Europe - Free Flights!,

    Patricia McKenna is alleged to have stated "It is absolutely outrageous that EU officials are offering free flights to people to come to Ireland to canvas for a Yes vote in the forthcoming referendum and it demonstrates the lengths to which EU officials are willing to go to get their own way on this issue..."

    UNISON Active: Ireland Votes on Lisbon Treaty 2 Nov - Outrageous free flights from YES campaign

    This is something else .... all the more reason for the No Campaign to double and triple the effort now in the face of this

    Corporate interests have money power... They want all your money in order to be able to manipulate you with it.

    Beware, I warn you.

    Can someone clarify what the issue is here? Are the people making the offer EU officials and/or are they using EU money?

    Is there any level that they won’t sink to? However, it will make rejection of the Lisbon treaty even more satisfying when it happens next week. We will have succeeded even though the odds were stacked against us.

    No, Ryanair are not EU officials and they have their own money to use.

    Ryanair offered free flights

    It is the Europe for Ireland Group who are seeking Volunteers to canvas in Ireland - it is who exactly they are which is the issue here ... by their own admission on their Website they include Public Servants
