We elected Bertie as leader. Cowen has no mandate from the country as a whole - only from Laois-Offaly.

Cowen wasn't elected as Taoiseach by the people of Ireland!
Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many, who have the majesty of the state to defend them.

Nobody bar those in Dublin Central elected Bertie. We are not in the US. We elect a party whose leader becomes, generally, Prime Minister. Anyway, thats another issue.

Folks, it's very easy for many of us to have different questions and thoughts that may not be related to this discussion, such as questions about whether your Blackberry runs RTE Player (contact RTE) , the merits of other debates (start a new thread) or those who want to just troll and rock back and forth screaming "Vote No" (FutureTaoiseach). But it's important (as always) that we stay on topic, and discuss the issue at hand.

So, take a deep breath folks, let's stay focused on the topic at hand. And if you have a thought that doesn't have anything to do with Ganley and/or O'Leary - you might want to ask yourself why you're posting it here, because I certainly will be.

O'Leary will win this for the YES side tonight. I'm a NO voter myself.

Are we the electorate to blame, or is it our politicians that have failed us that we are putting so much stead on a debate between these two people who use sensationalist sound-bites to make their points?

I hope the star of the show will be the Treaty itself and whats in it, rather than who out bullies or bluffs who. Less Heat magazine, more Sunday broadsheet.

I find the vision that both of them put forward for Ireland quite depressing.
Very depressed that our democracy is coming to this.

Disagree ... I think the outcome will be no-one wins ... a Status Quo affair ... and it's really celebrity TV to most

I think O'Leary and the issue of his greater success will be interesting. O'Leary's money is obvious but he does not flaunt it. Everybody knows where it came from and how much he earns. Ganley, on the other hand, has issues as to the source of his alleged wealth. Bank on O'Leary playing, "I am a far more sucessful businessman" and I support Lisbon, "I employ far far more people in this country than you". It's nasty stuff but will go down very well.

It's pretty disturbing that corporations like Intel, Microsoft and Ryanair are directly interfering in the electoral process.

If the scenario was they were advocating a No vote, imagine the outrage and indignation there would be....
