A "European law lecturer"? A biased source? Who doesn't prove anything he says? Here's one blatant lie:
Nobody is “foisting” anything on anyone – the treaty is being democratically ratified by 27 sovereign states
Um, 26 of those get no vote in said ratification. That's "foisting".

Elsewhere in his discourse, he contradicts himself several times. Easy to spot; I'll leave it to others to point out where.

I must confess that I'm getting really tired of the Irischer Zeitung. They're a mouthpiece for Berlin.

Huh, he destroyed the argument that the democratic will of the Irish people as expressed through a free and fair referendum has been invalidated? I don't think so. He destroyed the fact that Ireland loses its veto in 50 areas? I don't think so. I think what you mean to say is that he simply repeated the Yes line.

Gavin Barret says: It involves a (welcome) greater role for the neutral commission in proposing laws, a (welcome) greater role for the democratically-elected European Parliament in adopting them and a (welcome) greater role for the European Court of Justice in ensuring that everything is done legally.

Why all the welcomes? He welcomes more power for the mickey mouse Euro Parl in which Irish people have a squiggly 15 meps which means we have even less power than at the council. Given it's track record of graft and corruption this is a bad thing. He welcomes more power for the commission again at the expense of our Daíl and he welcomes more power for the ECJ with "mission" to deepen enlargement on the sly. So Mr. Barret is a federalist and in essence he agrees we will have more federalism.

Well the last line of the article published in a paper with a far from neutral position, says...

"This is an edited extract of their exchanges" and even at that I'm thinking Gavin has a leaky flat roof.
