It's lies for a number of reasons:

    - Ireland has one vote out of 27 under Lisbon, same as Germany and all Member States
    - Threshold to pass a law rises from a simple majority of states to 55%.
    - Population criterion is not new but the change from Nice is the the threshhold is raised from 62% to 65%
    - It now becomes more diffciult to pass a law
    - the 13 smallest countries with less than 10% of the EU's population can now block a law that the other 90% want. Some power grab.

I don't want to run off on a paranoid tangent about subliminal messaging, and maybe it's because I just saw Inglourious Basterds, but I did look at that poster below and think all it was missing from the shirt was slightly wider stripes and a little yellow star...

The first one will catch the attention of farmers to a degree, less so among urban dwellers.

The second one strikes the eye with a decent graphic 'expalnation' of voting levels under Lisbon. Though the background colour could have more contrast with the German flag colours, the black is almost hidden.

The third one isn't great, will make a few people think even if it isn't strictly true.

The fourth one looks a bit bland, just a call in Irish to vote no. Should have some graphic.

The fifth one, in the second post, will catch the anti-militarist people. Specially as the basis of the poster claim is true. Our military spending would have to increase with Lisbon.

Would you prefer the nationalist groups go back to blowing up people?
As to their funding, they get a lot of monies from donations from Irish people in Ireland.

I think the figures quoted in the second poster are supposed be based on the number of MEPs in the European Parliament, but the sums don't add up. I could be wrong in that assumption, maybe someone from SF could explain the calculations. Maybe there was some balancing equation used.

Total number of MEPs after Lisbon - 751
Ireland - 12 MEPs (or 15 if you are SF and count NI) - 1.6% (2% with NI)
    Germany - 96 MEPs (reduced from 99) - 12.8%
    UK - 72 MEPs - 9.6%

If you look at the window in the background, you'll see that's Curran's constituency office. Since those offices are festooned with personal promotion all the time, it's not a sign of GE footing.

However, it is a sign that SF are on a "wind up politicians by postering outside their office" footing. The use of the "tank" poster may not be unrelated.

I cede that responsibility to others, I like them all:

I responded to your request. Now will you inform me of incontrovertible evidence proving CO2 emitted by humans is harmful to the climate.

As I understand it, the EPP federalists (includes Fine Gael) as the overwhelming group dominate the direction of the EU. Individual countries/MEPs matter little.

The real irony in this campaign has been wetsbrits playing a Brits Out card.
