The Peoplekorps/Roche "Get Ganley" conspiracy revealed - in PK's own words

Earlier tonight, I made contact with the user "redpath" on this website through the "pm" function the site provides. It is not site policy to publish these pms and I will refrain from doing so here, but they are available to anybody who wishes to see them. The private message conversation led to "redpath" suggesting that I email peoplekorps@gmail.com for further information.

I agreed, and what follows is the evidence of what happened, and what peoplekorps revealed to me, once he was assured of my identity as an overtly partisan member of the press who, he believed, shares his bias.

I began by a rapid fire exchange of emails with PK. Mainly these consisted of his providing me with copies of conversations with various Libertas members in order to prove that he had "access". These included Declan Ganley, Caroline Simons, John mcGuirk, David Cochrane, and Anita Kelly. None of these emails reveal anything more than the fact that peoplekorps once emailed these people seeking commentary or interviews and was universally declined.

I continued by suggesting that we move into gmail chat. The first hour of our conversation I used to gain his confidence. I discovered that PK is extremely protective of his identity. Initially, I - posing as a journalist with a strong anti-Libertas bias - showered him with praise, and gradually his defences began to fall.

I suggested to PK that he allow me to interview him - as PK - for our newspaper's edition in the week prior to the referendum. This was new to PK - for he had never really had succesfully interacted with a journalist before, he said.

I won his trust by revealing to him the time and venue of the Libertas Press Conference tomorrow. He immediately posted it here, "for the devilment". What follows is the text of that part of the conversation, which proves peoplekorps to be Redpath, and demonstrates that he is willing to lie in order to smear his opponents

At this point, I suggested to PK that we do a "run-through" of what an interview would look like.

I began by asking him how he got the idea to start the blog - his answer was amazing. He got the idea from Dick Roche

As soon as this revelation was made, PK took our chat "off the record", realising that he had made a terrible error. I backed off immediately and assured him that he had nothing to worry about.

The remainder of our chat, however, was live and unsavable due to Gmail's unsaveable "off the record" feature. I had to record the more interesting things PK divulged in real time.

Here, for example, peoplekorps says that he finds Charles Haughey admirable, and met him once. (A big theme of the conversation was how PK knew and was well connected with FF in the 80s)

And here, PK talks about how he knows what he is doing constitutes the "politics of personal destruction", but that he does not care. He also says that he believes all Irish taxi drivers are racist.

There was much more, but there was a limit to the stuff I could catch and save.

What do we learn from this?

In order:

"Redpath" is in actual fact the blogger peoplekorps, who has been repeatedly banned from this website.

Peoplekorps deliberately posted a lie about Libertas here this evening - that they were leaking to him

Peoplekorps Communicates with Dick Roche, who gave him the idea for his blog.

Peoplekorps and Kevin Barrington are engaged in a conspiracy to smear Declan Ganley.

Peoplekorps believes Charles J. Haughey had many admirable qualities, and beleives there is "no comparison" between he and Declan Ganley

Peoplekorps believes all irish taxi drivers are racist, and admits that he is engaged in the "politics of personal destruction"

For my part, peoplekorps may out me if he wishes. He now knows who I am. I do not care. This agenda has needed to be exposed for some time, and tonight it has been.

It underlines the nasty, Nixonian nature of the yes campaign that they have to resort to the politics of the gutter to distract from their refusal to respect the democratically expressed wishes of the Irish people in the only poll that matters. It is frightening for democracy when the media allow themselves to abdicate their responsibility to protect democracy and instead become part of a conspiracy to destroy democracy. In this context, I think the mods would do well to take steps to put a stop to this abuse of a political-discussion site to dig up libel on a major figure in the no campaign. The internet is about freedom, but that includes the right to your good name. Peoplekorps and his aliases have been allowed to drive a coach and horses through Declan Ganley's right to a good name since Lisbon I. During the Euro election campaign, Peoplekorps claimed that he didn't care about Lisbon, but that his concern was the 'Far Right' which he equated with Libertas and Declan Ganley. On a post in recent days, peoplekorps/redpath referred to Ganley as 'Hitlerian' and as a 'Fuhrer'. I reported these comments. This underlines the need for stricter moderation of personalised smears of the kind that can destroy someone's reputation but for which there is no evidence. Peoplekorps is the worst example I have ever countered on the Internet of a smear-merchant that is prepared to engage in the most vicious lies against a human being in the name of acheiving a political-objective.
