ymmek - you really should try reading what I wrote. I never said that people wouldn't vote down the paper - I said that the AAA weren't recommending any transfers for anyone and it wouldn't be relevant anyway because the AAA will be fighting for a seat and will not be transferring any votes. The No.2s on the LP ballots however, will be important because they could decide the final seat when Jan is eliminated.

The Socialist party (AAA) have no choice were there No.2s go. bu the Socialist party (AAA) have been advising voters not to give SF a stroke on the ballot sheet.

One of the SF urban myths - like the other one the Shinners are flying that people shouldn't vote for the AAA because they don't want to be in government and won't change anything.

Realistically, MW, it depends on the motivation for voting SF, I would have thought. If your primary motivation is republican in nature, you'd tow the party line, mostly. If it was left leaning or socialist, i'd imagine you'll vote down the paper to other parties of the left.

You're also making the assumption that voters will blindly do as they're told by parties. the majority of posters are attracted to the message not the finer detail. So, AAA voters will give preferences to SF (and others based on a myriad of factors), and vice versa, even to the mundane "sure he's a grand/good looking/well mannered fella, and sure didn't he get yer wan sorted up the road on her social/potholes/medical issues?"

Really, politically there's some stock to be gained by this course, but not as much as you'd think

I gather that was a myth about John Ftawley: he had a great friend in Shannon Banks and was calling there
