Interesting stuff. Ballinamore, Aughnasheelin and Aughawillan are very much SF strongholds, with Aughavas being the isolated pocket of support. Comiskey responsible for the FG vote in North Leitrim, though it was disappointingly poor from his perspective, like Ellis with Roscommon, they did better than expected in the main county in the constituency, but their own county area let them down.

Thats Quite Interesting surprised to see Sinn Féin outpolling both Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael espically as they didn't have a large vote in that Constituency, Could you put one up for Monaghan

Is it possible to do this for the 2004 local elections? Would be interesting to compare with 2009!

I'm afraid Casualbets is spot on with his analysis of top party support in individual DED's. Just because Colreavy is a SF councillor for Manorhamilton, FG still got highest votes in that DED in GE 2007. See below for confirmation.

ElectionsIreland.org: 2009 Local - Manorhamilton First Preference Votes

Colreavy is a sound man and a one of the true republicans left in the party and could run in next GE alongside Arthur Gibbons from Sligo as a dual candidate to maximise their vote.

Colreavy is a light light weight. Can talk a bit,and good company in a pub. But his background is from a family that all work or worked for the public service. He has worked for HSE and NWHB as it was before that all his working life.. He dosent know the real world . or( as was proven later the price of anything) as wasnt he one of the Leitrim Councillors
that voted to sell a valuable site to developers in Manorhamilton for 100 euros.. This was during the boom time see this post... http://www.politics.ie/sinn-fein/846...and-100-a.html
The site was later sold on for a large profit
No Colreavy will always hold onto his manorhamilton seat he s harmless enough, and that should be the height of his ambitions... SF have more members that if they get the right backing and coaching could go a lot further than Colreavy

Are you familiar with Ballinamore SF Councillor Martin Kenny. He is rather impressive. He also had one of the lowest expenses for a councillor in Leitrim. Too many of the councillors in Leitrim are the relations of their predecessor. At least the Shinners seem to be more open to new blood.
