It was the country areas that put Colreavy in and McSharry toped the poles in Manorhamilton so it is clear that the people of Manorhamilton wanted McSharry and not Colreavy but the fools who voted for with the party(FF) and not for the candidate have done them selves out of a voice on the council.
What about the 100 votes from Manorhamilton that went to the three Kinlough based candidates? Gabriel McSharry got 14 votes in Kinlough but Siobhan McGloin got 54 in Manorhamilton. Would make you think about the 22 votes he was short!

Also when it boiled down to it, 50% of Pat Munday voters whose 2nd preference was McDermott voted for McGloin ahead of McSharry. Doesn't say much for the town vote!

McDermott had a great election picking up votes everywhere except Tullaghan and Askill! Superb showings in Glenfarne, Ballaghameehan, Kiltyclogher & Manorhamilton!

Dolan also done well with his 200 votes in newtownmanor being his highlight. Also polled well in Killargue & Difreen

McGloin done extremely well taking 38% of the vote in kinlough and 42% on her home patch - Aghanlish. She was extremely lucky that Pat Mundays voters helped her out!

Ferguson - Done Ok considerering! I thought he would find it alot tougher. Askill, Kinlough & Tullaghan were his strogest areas.

Munday - Done well to get over 450 votes. He was never realy going to hold this seat as Flynn was lucky to hold it himself in 2004

Kelly - Not a bad start by the independant who no doubt will put in a big effort in 5 years time especially if McSharry does not go forward again or if Ferguson retires. 232 votes for the first time is a good start.

McSharry - Where to now for McSharry? So close yet so far and completely let down by his own town! Hard to see Gabriel running a fourth time! Munday will be more established in the town the next time!

Colreavy - First past the post with his A team! Thought he would make more gains and top the poll!

SO why did Mc Sharry fail, as a previous thread stated Mc Gloin got alot of votes in Manor and likewise MC DERMOTT so the Question that must be asked is, are the people of Monor in civil war style politics and not ready for an independent. Maybe the memories of Jimmy Mc Hugh IND still walk the streets of Manor.
