    SF candidate in Sligo/North Leitrim

Word has it that Sean MacManus will not be the candidate. Any truth to that or just gossip?

don't know about that. Maybe his soon Cllr. Chris MacManus might run. Neither have a chance of getting a seat.

Loks like Gabriel Mcsharry will be the Labour candidate.

My understanding from Shinners in the area is that his son Cllr Chris MacManus wouldn't be too popular a choice and wouldnt get the full backing of the local organisation.

McSharry would be a strange Labour choice. He's from North Leitrim, I think, and as such would receive f all in the main urban area, Sligo town.

McSharry is seeking a nomination as a second Labour candidate.

He could in fact win the Selection Convention, requiring the NEC to name a second Sligo-based candidate.

Cawley, McGarry, Bree and McSharry will all seek the primary nomination, but because the Sligo-based candidates supporters all hate each other, the nuances of PR-STV could throw up McSharry as the winner!

Mm, Labour with too many candidates & the Shinners without any.

Why don't Labour give Bree to the Shinners, & thus ease the problems of both sides?

Kenny is from South Leitrim, and will probably run in Roscommon-South Leitrim.
