what absolute rubbish, are you seriously telling me that all of willies votes were from friends and fellas he meets down the pub, he attracted the FF voter, and Lawless was looking for those votes as well, thats why there was no divide between them or the other FF candidates. Lawless was never going to get elected because of his location, for him to win a CC seat he has to get ahead of paddy Mac of Labour, I have always said that sallins will only ever elect one councillor. Lawless needs to move or beat paddy mac.

Incumbency is always an advantage electorally, and particularly when the tide is out for a party, then new challengers are up against it.

Scully was well beaten by Hillis (and Conway) in 2004 but by 2009 was in position to take the first seat.

Paddy Mac had to run three times (1991, 1999, 2004) before finally getting elected.

Just taking a few local examples, but this pattern is pretty standard everywhere.

    +1
But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"
