you have a few years on me so effin effer, because I dont think I remember finlays not being there, I suppose I remember when dunnes was on limerick lane though, but only just about.
the town has to be fair come on a lot in the last decade and a half, but its a sin that there is no cinema or court house, in a town of that size. Thats why i think a truly newbridge native could clean up in the town, if they really agitated along the lines that newbridge is neglected for not having a TD etc......

Hmm, I can't remember any ploughable fields on the Finlay's site Effin Effer, and Boylans garage used to be on the McDonalds site. That said I do remember the circuses on the Dunnes site, as well as Dunnes and Quinnsworths being on opposite sides of the Main St. with Tescos, in a previous incarnation, on the site of Woodies.

Another great thing in Newbridge in the early 80s was the toy shop in the town hall at Christmas.

Hmm what else was in Newbridge then and not now?

There used to be a wooden church up beside where Cill Mhuire is now. It was there before they built the church - which was completed in 1983 (my sister was the first person christened there iirc).

There was the big hardware shop in the middle of the town (which is where you could get refills for soda stream machines) - can't remember the name now.

And I used to like going into Kearns's shop on the Main St. to get sweets weighed out from the big jars (a quarter pound of midget gems).

It was bigger than Brazils - I think it was Keegans.

Kildare North is one of the most predictable constituencies at the next general 1 FF, 1 FG, 1 Lab and 1 Ind. Kildare South has 1 safe FF and 1 safe Lab with the last seat between FG and FF who may hold on with the 2 strong incumbents, with O'Fearghaill being the strongest due to his huge rate of constituency work.

i agree with earlier posters i think Murphy will get in north kildare and that it will be 1 ff 1fg 1lab and 1 indo. I have heard stagg will not run this time as well that durkin may be finished as well. Fitzpatrick i cannot see getting back in again. seems to have a habit of putting his foot in it both nationally and locally

whether FG run someone in newbridge or not is key to their chances of victory. Its the laergets town in the constituency and has no TD, yet last time out FG ignored it and ran two candidates from areas which had much smaller populations and TDs alreday from the place!
