Interesting that Kildare is the only area "currently" actively discussing elections.

I look forward to the canvassers arriving - and they better be ready to discuss national issues, I know, i'm in the minority, but my new rule is anyone who mentions the number of speedbumps they had built automatically loses any preference i may have been inclined to give them.

Of course, during the last election the only candidate who arrived at my door was from the Greens. And during Lisbon, not one knock on the door.

I've been waiting in the long grass for long enough, may be time to go out and make it my business to accost them.

    The Kildare "blow-in".
But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it: "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"

It looks like a clever move by Stagg, McGinley is been put up to take votes of Murphy, Labour do not have a chance of 2 seats. FG will have Durkan & Scully so there really was no room for paddymac as Scully will take 40-50% of the Naas vote. The last seat here will be a dogfight, between FF,FG and Ind. too close to call.

Bit surprised to hear you say you had a solitary canvasser during the last elections (presuming you mean the locals) as Naas town (your given location) was heavily canvassed, with nearly twenty town council candidates and about a dozen county ones all 'on the beat'. I certainly knocked on plenty of Naas doors and fairly sure the others did as well. Elections are competitive, not least in this area, and the footwork is put in by all sides. Is it possible you are either a) off the beaten track or b) tend to be out a lot in the evenings?

Nope we were there, but as one of the candidates lives next door perhaps we were regarded as a given!
Were you as active during the Lisbon?

I did poster and canvass during Lisbon yes. I would say probably more than some the elected members. But I wouldn't want to cause trouble

I heard through my sources, dont know how true, but Michael Fitzpatrick TD (FF) will not be seeking re-election in the next GE, if correct will be good news for Brady I think. I wonder who will be the 2nd FF candidate will be.

    M FitzPatrick

It is a shame to hear that anyone might be prevented from serving in public office due to illness I am sorry to hear that he may be unwell.
