What is a paper doing printing anonymous letters?Such an anonymous letter from someone claiming to be a Labour Party member was printed letter some months ago. I understand the Drogheda Labour Party doesn't believe the person who wrote it is a member.

I really can't see FF taking two here, the large commuter population here will prove an unsympatathetic campaigning ground for Wallace et al. Fitzgerald running does make it more difficult for Hannigan, though they're essentially fishing from different parts of the constituency. On a really really bad day for FF, both Hannigan and Fitzgerald could make it (0r Hannigan and the two FG candidates), leaving Mary Wallace free to try for Mary O'Rourke's current job.

Yeah, I agree with Dunny. That is an unfair remark and you should withdraw it.
I wouldnt worry about that letter one bit. The people who will vote for Hannigan will do so because of his record and his service to the community not his sexuality. The chances are the letter is just somone else trying to stir things up, but why worry about it.
I'm sure that the election is going to get down and dirty and there will be alot of bruised and scarred people at the end of it. What Dominic Hannigan did was refreshing and honest and will stand to him.
Its a pity that other candidates cant be as up front and honest as him. Its also a pity that candidates have to disclose their private matters, but when someone is clearly trying to use it as a political tool I suppose disclosure is the sensible thing to do.
Anyway my main thought on the matter is who gives a damn about what some wee mind from the wee county thinks. This is purely a Meath concern.
I would agree. I think that Dominic is a great guy and regardless of who he has a relationship with, its nothing to do with the voters.
I did hear that some party last year during the By Election scaremongered rural voters with stories of his sexuality. Disgraceful

I had no intention of making a double entendre, but I gave you one.
Apparently the Party who Dunny is referring to scaremongering among the electorate have disowned anybody who engaged in such practices. I heard that they 'stood down' the offending canvassers.
I also understand that a second party had a similar problem with a few imported canvassers and dealt with them in the middle of the campaign.
From what I can see there was no concerted effort at senior levels within any organisation to use this against Dominic, however there was an ever increasing risk that individual canvassers would use it.
