Some more quick info for poll watchers - the count for all of the Kildare LEAs will take place in Punchestown starting on the morning of June 6. There will be two count centres: Celbridge and Kildare will be in one, while Athy, Clane and Naas will be in the other. It's likely that the areas will be counted sequentially in alphabetic order, but hopefully we'll still get a tally done on the Saturday for all areas. The Ireland East count is also in Punchestown.
Also - the Leader have a breakdown of the Kildare LEA in this week's paper.

Kane is a well known SIPTU rep for all the wrong reasons!!!
His escapades in the Doyle concrete closure will ensure he gets shag all votes in Rathangan thats for bloody sure.
Interesting turnouts today. In Kildare Town it looks like 43% with a big spread across the boxes. Some of the big old estates like Maryville had a very low turnout, while there was a big return from the commuter estates.
From what I hear Newbridge made it into the low 50's, Monasterevin around 55%, Rathangan low and not sure about the rest.

That seems very low for Kildare town was there no party machines getting the vote out? - Communter votes should help O'Donnell would of thought.
Rural vote in Athy area was down, not sure if FF voters didn't vote or only FF voted - town area was good but not particularly from new estates.
FF could remain safe in sth kildare, usual story buck the national trend
The Kildare LEA tally with 100% open was approximately as follows:
FF 29% (-10)
FG 29% (+8)
LAB 19% (+4)
And the votes were approx:
1. Paddy Kennedy (IND) 1790
2. Suzanne Doyle (FF) 1650
3. Spike Nolan (FG) 1530
4. Fiona O'Loughlin (FF) 1454
5. Tony O'Donnell (FG) 1449
6. Mark Stafford (FG) 1420
7. Pat Black (FF) 1350
8. Francis Browne (LAB) 1250
9. Adrian Kane (LAB) 1235
10. Murty Aspell (IND) 800
11. Sean Downey (SF) 600
12. John Hardt (GREEN) 350
13. John Tierney (IND) 200
That's without the postal vote - which could be significant at around 400 (thanks to the army). Great vote management by FG, and a big shift from FF in Newbridge.
