Im not so sure this time, but time will tell.

was chatting lots of people at gaa day in town from clonmore, and ballyfore most of the ballyfore croud were giving Leddin the nod, he canvased the area for two weeks with a very well known man and member of ballyfore gaa, think he was chairman. By all counts he is another FFer helping Leddin, and the lad doing the town for the last week and putting up all his posters and signs is another from a well known FF family.

this could just swing some of the maddened FFers in town. Ballyfore in the last election gave the pds most of the vote this wont happen this time

so will this info change your mind any...............

    Just a little.

I was speaking to Leddin today and if he's to be believed his campaign is going well both in the town and as far as Rhode. I could see Bourke and Leddin taking seats, which would be a good working double act given the family link.

There was never a realistic case for two Fianna Fail seats in the town. Foley couldn't be said no to for a place on the ticket after the General Election run. If as I think he wont take a seat, that will kill off any chance at a second Dail run. Big question is where will Fianna Fail get a candidate in North Offaly next time if this happens???

The only way Edenderry can take a third seat is if Nichola Hogan can pull John Foran's Fine Gael seat from Clonbullogue. And thats a seriously big ask.

Well with foran not going to council meetings, and taking 30 odd grand out of the coffers for his part time hobby, i can see hogan taking alot of the fg votes.

there is talk that Leddin has dail aspirations himself if he gets the Co. seat. If this is true and he is going to open an office in town to work as a full time councilor one would say he will be working extreamly hard till the next election.

Rose of light said eairlier he spoke to him and he is deff opening an office, he also mentioned when he called at my door the other day.

Only promice he made was to give full time and hard working repersentation, at least hes not telling a load of lies promising the world and not being able to deliver.

Don't underestimate Foran. He hasn't done a tap since he was first elected but still gets a solid Fine Gael vote. His father's reputation and his own rugby interest gets him a slice of the traditional Fine Gael vote in Edenderry. Hogan isn't the best liked either from what I hear.

Your dead right on the promises. If it can't be done just say so. Candidates get alot more respect that way. Voters can smell B.S. a mile away. Another area where Foley is falling down. Good to hear about the office, might put the fire under the arses of our crowd to get a bit better service for the L.E.A.

    Frank Weir

    Good morning Ladies and Gents.

I just thought I'd give you all a little run down on the election campaign of Mr. Frank Weir. Which is been treated as light comedy locally in North Offaly at the moment. Formally a Fianna Fail County Councillor turned Independent Fianna Fail now running as an Independent.

Thats kind of the fun bit! He's using the same literature as last time when he lost his seat to Fergus McDonald. Which claims he is a sitting Councillor since 1991, and is working hard on many different committees which he is no longer a member of, for the local community. The one sided D.L. card also has Independent Fianna Fail written on it with the words Fianna Fail tipexed out. The tipex been easy to remove of course.

On the up side he has purchased a small number of posters. Which are the exact same format as those currently being used by Fianna Fail. Tri-colour swish and all, the only thing missing is the party logo. But his speel on the doorstep is the punch line, "Frank Weir here! Sure you'll give us your won't you?" and then walks away into the sunset (weather dependent, of course), leaving a surprised and bewildered voter behind him wondering, what just happened?

LOL, that's Frank. On the up side, he's recycling his leaflets - which has to be applauded by any environmentalist - and on the other he still needs to work on his document-alteration skills. He's keeping his options open, too - bit like Jews for Jesus.

But you have to admit that he was a hard man to stop on the football field, as I learned to my cost.

    not very nice

Well stephen, by the way iv just found out who you were effin effer, it is not very nice to run down anyone on the way they are running their campaign.

Weir was good enough for the FFers when he was taking his seat, and now maybe he hasnt the same money to put into a campaign as others but let run his and you run yours..

We could have said that you look like Mr. Bean on your posters, and that your litrature is not a true reflection of your intentions, and nowhere is it to be seen that if, and in my opinion thats a big IF you get ellected that you will go back to the party tha\t kicked you in the ass.

So try to be nice to all that are just trying to do what you are "Get Ellected" by whatever means they have at thrie dispossal.

    Thank you...

Be the way im not Frank Weir or have never met the man. But Effin Effer he will take votes in your area and they might not transfer back to you, all your sneering he could be the reason you dont get ellected,,

Thats my little rant for today, so if anybody has anything constructive to say about the local ellections in the offaly area ill be back later to check in and give my humble opinion..
