Lets keep this tread for offaly. That means no Michael Moloneys here please.
I hear FF are puting up two new candidates in Tullamore. I wonder who the Labour party will put up as a third candidate in the town. O Brien and lar always put up a couple of candidates with a low profile so they can get the transfers. It has worked for them the last two terms.

I heard Councillor Eddie Fitzgerald is to run in the Emo area in Laois as well in the Edenderry electoral area of Offaly. Anyone else hear word on this?

I presume you mean Cllr. Eddie Fitzpatrick?

He should be a shoe in for a seat in the Edenderry L.E.A. He is the only sitting councillor in the greater Portarlington area, and his work rate is very good. I'd be very surprised if he wasn't elected on the first count!

Given that, I don't see what good it would do him to run in the Emo L.E.A. in Laois?

Was it not Bismarck who said "never fight a war on two fronts" as it only divides your resources. Knew that Leaving Cert. history would come in handy some day

'Swinningdoor' was sent on a dummy run on Eddie standing in The Emo E.A. With the additional area added to the Edenderry E.A., in his own backyard his seat has become one of the safest in Offaly. Eddie has also his office located in Gracefield.

Might have got it wrong, but the rumour mill was doing the rounds on this one.

I get a general feel talking to people over the last 3 or 4 months that they are looking forward to exercising their vote next June. I believe the turnout will be higher than usual and many staunch FF voters are saying that they will not vote FF in June. I also think that the young vote will come out in force to voice their anger about dole queues, third level fees etc and demand radical change. They won't expect that from FG or Labour so SF and Independents will benefit.

    Bystander,
    Can you square this circle?
If you say, the turnout is going to be high, staunch Fianna Fáil staunch voters will not vote for Fianna Fáil candidates, young people will voice their anger at the increasingdole queues and third level fees and then say Fine Gael, Labour, Sinn Féin or Independents will not benefit. Then, who will they be voting for?

I said in my last sentence that SF and Independents WILL benefit.

Apologies, but it did read that the minor players wound't benefit
