As regards your predicted outcome - do you think Marc Connolly will lose his seat? He'll find it hard to get back in but I think he might scrape it.

You have FG as winning 4 seats - this is very possible but the only reservation I'd have is the fact that Bobby Delaney and Ollie Payne are nextdoor neighbours. They'd by and large be looking for votes from the same patch with a few exceptions...i.e. that Ollie would be looking for the GAA vote.

That could turn ugly as regards disputes and tension between the two, not to mention that there could end up being a split vote - which would do more harm than good to FG's natural advantage.
Well i dont disagree a whole lot there but as far as i know they get on very well together. and i think bobbys personal vote is strong enough to hold up

According to that link Brian Stanley got 1.85 of a quota for the Portlaoise TC, will he be able to bring in his running mate this time?

Hopefully, a strong left wing is what this country needs, 2 SF councillors would be a good thing, to check the Far Right that is FG and FF. It would be good to see the Labour lad elected too, although I hear he is not too popular as he does not live in the area or put in a lot of groundwork.

Since when are FF far right?? Did I miss something? I wouldn't even discribe FG as far right despite their right-wing policies on crime. At the very most they are moderately right-wing. FF are a centerist party...FACT.

A strong left wing is exactly what this country DOESN'T need. Ireland is already overly socialist with the amount of benefits for the unemployed, single mothers etc. Just check out today's thread on the dole compared to working...never should one be better off unemployed than employed, no matter what the circumstances! It's completely counterproductive.

And if this is the legacy of FF/PD's I can't even begin to imagine what would happen under Labour...and don't even mention SF.

That being said - I would like to see O' Brien getting in. He might not be popular in Portlaoise but I know alot of people who swear by him in his own area - and most of them are FF!

Joe Dunne?? I know him well! Nice guy Joe...he works in Flanagans pub and seems to live there since he's always behind the bar when I call in.

I wouldnt rate Talitha Horan though to be honest...

Is Eddie Kirwan Laois's version of Beverly Cooper Flynn?

Is Eddie Kirwan Laois's version of Beverly Cooper Flynn?
No I haven't lost it in the sheer agony of waiting for RTE to get around to showing some Arsenal v Villareal match coverage...

In Mayo with Bev as an 'independent' candidate, FF selected three candidates in such a way that Bev's Castlebar base was avoided and the FF3 + Bev would actually have made a lot of sense as a four candidate strategy if she had been an official FF candidate back then...

In Borris in Ossory Mountrath based Eddie Kirwan has gone independent. FF has selected three candidates, Michael Phelan (Ballacolla), Brendan Phelan (Rathdowney/Donaghmore) and John Joe Fennelly (Abbeyleix)...effectively leaving the Castletown and Mountrath end of the constituency without a locally based FF candidate. Naturally, the FF votes there will probably gravitate towards Kirwan...

Could it be that FF guess they will only get two candidates here, and have selected their official team in such a way that the prospects of the independent FF candidate will be enhanced, thus leaving FF with a good chance of effectively having three seats in Borris should Kirwan win the seat and then return to the fold some time from now...

    Walcottttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!! Er, sorry about that....

Cant be Gormley he is gone independent sure it was him there is no sign of him the election literature that ff have putting through peoples doors so it cant be him.
People were laughing at him the weekend in the hollow when he told people that had rang FF HQ looking for what to put on his election material he even though he is gone independent.
That guy Dunne is sound nice guy but i hope he is not relying on the Flanagan's vote.
As for Adam goode FF are scrapping the bottom of the barrel trying to get him elected he is a 24kt gobsh1te with all the social skills of baboon in heat.
Talitha horan "I'm too good for mountmellick "is running she is the least actively involved in the community off all the candidates .
