bystander , it may be useful to know how things are done in Cuba.
As that is what our country will feel like for the next few years. with Fidel Cowen in charge.

Nonetheless , this is a very interesting thread when confined to laois politics.

Obviously you missed the point. I was merely pointing out the downside of socialism in response to the advocacy of socialism on this site.

Anyone read about Moloney raging a war on the council in the nationalist today?
Although he has a point when he called the council officials bullies.
I know of a few people who went calling into county hall about various issues and were told they could talk to them, standing in the open public lobby via a phone.
How's that for a partnership with the people?
They sit on their aresholes in plush offices up stairs and the poor man or woman are left in the lobby for all an sundry to know their business.
Hey. Moloney why don't you take up that issue?

What are Fine Gael at? I recently joined the Portarlington branch of Fine Gael because at long last they had a credible candidate ie. Grace Halford. Fine Gael, or should I say, a faction of FG. went out of their way to shaft GH. Why? Why did they fear her? I tagged in late to this amazing branch. Meetings were held in the home of the secretary, and I was stunned by the energy of this branch. They had their finger on the pulse. There was a pooling of ideas and a wonderful blend of minds. Young professionals mixed successfully with ordinary workers, unemployed, and old codgers, like me. Our motto was 'better days ahead'. We believed in this. We are now devastated. Once again, Portarlington does not have an FG candidate. At the FG Constituency AGM our secretary made the speech of the night which was acknowledged by everyone present. Her emphasis was corruption and manipulation. We agree totally, but remain devastated.

Winifred Cox is the Portarlington based FG candidate. Support her, if you are in FG, otherwise you are attempting to undermine her chances in an underhanded manner.

Nothing underhanded here. We have no idea who she is. We invested a lot of energy and interest into Grace Halford. We are devastated. We have no idea who Winifred Cox is.

Please will you give it a rest about Grace Halford. Have you nothing else to contribute here.

No offence, but you are really starting to annoy people on this thread.

    You are trolling now.

Can everyone try and not encourage this troll on this issue.

Lottie you are welcome to debate these upcoming locals but for the love of god give us all a break with the G H stuff!!!

Moloney has one supporter here if he ever makes his mind up as to which area he is going to stand in.
This Kimble fella, if he's the real deal, has his dander up for Deegan, Stanley, Turley and a few named council officials.
Could this be the voice of the people, that candidates canvassing in the Emo LEA are going to be faced with in the coming weeks.
Good Flucking help them, if it is.

Checked out this youtube site. Very funny. Still a bit stunned regarding the sheer dirtiness of local Politics. The Deegan camp have, with the co-operation of FG, seen off any credible opposition. Full support for incredibly weak candidates. They may be safe for the moment, but I reckon there is dirt down the line. The rezoning of Laois villages, which was scuppered by Dick Roache, might yet come back to haunt. As I said, dirty business.
