Lawrence, Laura, Laurie, Laurence, Larry, Lorna. Just some of the names attributed to Laurie.
So, how does the name Laurie identify the “only” person you know by that name in those parts?
Just goes to show how few people you know in that part of the county.
God help Lottie if she’s “appointed” by FG to contest the local election in the Emo area and has you out canvassing for her.

What's happening with FG in Mountmellick. I heard there's an almighy row goining on in the camp since Patrick Lalor, Rosemary Whelan and David Goodwin were "appointed" to conest the election.
Heard there'll be political bloodletting, above in Rosenallis and Clonaslee if Phelan is not added to the ticket.

The FG organisation in Clonaslee have stated that if Pat Delaney a member of its Branch is not selected by Headquarters, that Clonaslee FG will run a campaign for Pat Delaney on an FG-Independent ticket. Pat's grandfather (Paddy Delaney) was a FG Councillor with O.J. Flanagan for the Tinnahinch E.A. in the 1960's.

If he goes forward he will be a very strong candidate and his next door neighbour J Dignan will definately be out before the race is even off.

Joe Digan, heads up Fianna Fáil in Laois. The party will pull out all the stops to make sure he comes in.

What relevance had this trip to your consituents?

    How did it benefit them?

I'd have to disagree with that.

    Divisive personality.

Not everyone within the organisation particularly likes him or his style.

There's no sure thing if Halford gets the nod to conest for FG in the Emo area.
She's sure of one vote, and that's Lottie's vote.
Now all she has to do is dig out another 999.
Sorry, 998, seeing that Lottie knows only one Laurie also living in the area
