That rumour about the paedophile who canvassed with Councillor Adebari is gaining momentum since it was first posted here a couple of days ago. I was contacted by two people who can recall the man going from door to door with Councillor Adebari during the last town council election campaign.

Trans-Sibernian stated above that the Councillor would not have know about these facts at the time of the last election, so is IT fair play to be pushing to condemn Councillor Adebari if he was unaware of this persons crimes? No one would risk the loss of potential votes by bringing a person on the canvess knowing that the person is seriously compromised, to put it mildly.

Ah, but you see Councillor Moloney, allegations were doing the rounds at the time of the last election campaign that the convicted pedophile had raped a married woman and was intimidating her to keep her mouth shout about it.

To be fair, When councillor Aebari canvassed in Portlaoise with this man at the last locals (2004) this man had not committed the crime against these two teenage girls in Portlaoise. This crime, for which he has been convicted and sentenced, happened well after the elections. So councillor Adebari could never of known, obviously.

However, this convicted criminal had a very dubious past before this and very serious rumours existed in Portlaoise as swinging door mentioned. This individual would be well capable of intimidation and I know of allegations made against him.

What ever way you look at it councillor Adebari has questuions to answer.

Did he know of any rumours about this persons past before he allowed him to work in his campaign?

Has he subsequently cut off all contact with this person?

Lets face it, he was obviously stuck for canvassers last time around and he displayed very bad judgement.

If any other politician did this then they would know about it.

At the very least Adebari has questions to answer about his associations with this guy. Maybe he knew nothing, but he should clear it up publicly.Or what sort of canvassers willl he bring with him this time.

They will be questioned on my doorstep anyway.

    Trans-Siberian is quite right.
Questions now have to be answered by the former Mayor of Portlaoise Councillor Rotimi Adebari about the people he had canvassing for him.
It is now fact that a convicted pedophile and a person with a dubious past was a main player is him being elected to the town council in Portlaoise in 2004.
The most serious question that has to be asked, and raised by Trans-Siberian, is whether Councillor Adebari has still contacts with this individual who is serving time for a most heinous crime he perpetrated on two young girls.
The very least the whole issue has raised is the judgment of Councillor Adebari. If he can get such a basic thing as picking a campaign team so wrong what other judgments throughout the past 4½ years has he got so wrong?
I once again refer to the fact that, as reported in last week’s Laois Nationalist that he returned to his home country, the country he claimed he fled from in the first place due to religious persecution, where he was treated to a heroes return by over 1,000 of his people and the town dignitaries.
Why would anyone, particularly a man who claims to be so highly educated return to a place he claimed, in his asylum application, that he was persecuted in?

Another question that has to be asked, not just of Councillor Rotimi Adebari, who is the Vice Chairperson of the Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed, but also of that national organisation, is how he can purport to represent unemployed people when he claims to be a self-employed consultant.
Seemingly Councillor Adebari has gained his place on the national organisation by claming to be a member of the Supporting Unemployed in Laois organisation, an organisation he claimed he set up when he first came to Portlaoise.
Does anyone know anyone else who is a member of this group? Where do they operate from? What are their contact numbers? What issues do they deal with? And what have they done since being set up?
One would have thought, in a town that has seen a 100% increase in unemployment in the past year that we would have heard a lot from them, but I haven’t.

Like I said before he is an opportunist. If the people of Portlaoise elect him again then they deserve everything they have coming down the line in terms of unemployment and poor services.

Rotimi is concerned about lining his own pockets.

But he must come clean on his involvement with a convicted sex offender.

If he turns up on my door with people like this I will call the Guards.

The Emo electoral area will be real interesting.
If Pascal MC. goes well, it will put the cat among the pigeons.

This area has a real Port/Stradbally split.
