Borris now looks like 4 - 2, with Bonham squeezing out Michael G.

in luggacurran, again 2 fg 2ff, the 2 fg already home, tight for the 2 ff looks like fleming and miller in that order.
Ben Brennan beat Dick Miller - Brennan being former FF may still kind of count as FF but on paper it's 2 FG, 1 FF and ! IND.

emo, is impossible to call, no one anywhere near the quota. cribben certain of one seat, mulhall the leading fg is a surprise but expect him to win a seat. mitchell has done surprisingly well and may retain the seat, emerson a very showing. impossible to call the final seat.
Cribben, Mulhall, Mitchell and Deegan in, making FF, 2 FG and one ex PD/IND

tinnahinch...i will call it on the basis of first prevs, 2 ff(outgoing 2), 1 fg(on impression), and bowe(gain for labour)
We call it Mountmellick now - you're showing your age, wise old owl...

Bracken and McDonald retained, FG for Goodwin (sitting) and Bowe for Labour as you suggest.

portlaoise: i will call all 7 seats: 3 fg, aird(topped poll with well over a quota), sweeney and one other, 1 sf stanley, 2 ff lodge and fitzgerald, and the last seat to the nigerian...out go jacob and moloney(bad move).

Not deftinite yet but loking like 3 FG - Aird, Sweeney, O'Brien or Buggy; 2 FF as you suggest, Adebari probably in before either the last FG (currently ahead of Fitzgerald too after 8th count) and Jacob and Moloney are out. Stanley for SF makes up the seventh.

SF did very well across the county, two seats on Portlaoise town council

SF have seriously strengthened their hand in Laois. Got pretty close to 20% in Portlaoise town and have Lynch elected in Mountmellick. Did well in Offaly too, Stanley could get a Dail seat at the next general election at FF's expense.

Borris in Ossory just in as predicted - 4-2, Michael G didn't make it. Just Portlaoise now.

Aaron Delaney polled really well in Borris in Ossory for SF. Maybe Laois is ripe for SF picking at the moment...
Interesting to see how much more pragmatic SF are about their seat management and how Stanley brought in Hand pretty easily - though he had strong first preferences of his own.

If Aird was less of a guy solo, he'd have brought Mary Sweeney with him - or Kathleen O'Brien and they might have an extra seat rather than have Buggy and O'Brien slugging it out now because Sweeney didn't get elected sooner and Adebari gained ground.

I am delighted at the election of John King in Borris in Ossory. Well Done.

Congratulations to Sinn Fein and nja, nja, nja, nja to Michael Moloney, who descended to unprecedented depths in his Daily Mailish mudslinging against Sinn Fein and generally showed what a nasty-minded opportunistic little eejit he is. Fortunately, the voters sussed him this time round and gave him the bum's rush.

Now he should get himself a real job - and a life!

Interesting development in Portlaoise. Sweeney FG and Lodge FF just elected.
Sweeney's 75 surplus is being distributed.

    FF - Fitzgerald on 903
    FG - O'Brien on 896
    FG - Buggy on 895

One of those will be gone. The other two will take a seat each.

    Nailbiting stuff.

How is the rest of Mountmellick Town Council looking? I know Lynch is in but who else made it? Is Rosemary Whelan of FG in?

    Yep, she is.

Off the top of my head, Bracken, Bowe, Lynch, Whelan, Connolly, O'Mara, Payne, Gormley, Delaney. Payne squeezed out Ron Lalor at the very end - there was talk last night of a recount but that was changed this morning.

Portlaoise LEA gone for a full recount tomorrow - scratch that; later this morning, at 10.

    Thanks for that.

    Who called the Portlaoise Recount?

    Fine Gael - Charles Flanagan.

Paddy Buggy FG and Catherine Fitzgerald were last two and were on the same total of 921. Fitzgerald elected because she had more first preferences.
