Afraid you have it the wrong way round. Mick Turley of Vicarstown was lifelong FG. He was hijacked by Deegan gang before local election in a stunt similar to the one recently pulled on Port FG. He ran Independent and won a seat. He died tragically of a heart attack a few years ago. His brother John who has a Solicitors practice in Portarlington has held his seat in the interim. He is a highly respected and particularly decent guy, but I think he was sickened by his experience on LCC. Honesty doesn't fare well in that arena, as you know yourself.

sorry folks, but i was to busy during the last recession, getting the boat to england in 1987, at the age of 17, where i spent 5 years working before coming home in 1992, were i spent the next 14 to 15 years breaking my back doing hard graft like plasterering, block laying, roofing, stonemasery, before my back and kidneys gave way from all the pysical abuse they took down through the years, so please excuse me if my alcoholic father couldn't afford to put his 8 kids trough college, and the celtic tiger didn't stop at everybodys door by the way. were actually one of the luckest familys in the country, were one of the few family the recession doesn't hit because it been a recession for us THE WHOLE WAY. everything you say to me bud, is a dig at the fact that im not as well educated as you, now thats not nice, or as bob the idiot would say, very unsporting

BS, Kimble, you are just guessing that I am from a wealthy family, born with a silver spoon in my mouth and yadda, yadda, yadda. And likewise assuming that I enjoy perfect health.

In my travels around the world, I have met illiterate peasants who can identify a couple of thousand species of plants and know their uses as food, medicine and for many other purposes. I respect their expertise, which is of more use to them in their lives than any formal education, and I can well imagine that they would fare better in a post-apocalyptic world, say, than any of us.

I am not mocking you for any lack of education, but for the way in which you claim to know everything about politics, for example. You are mired in a world of clientelism and purveyors of merda taurorum, all but a rare few of whom are "as straight as the road to Clonakilty". If you really think they (most politicians) are interested in anything other than their own enrichment and the power rush they get from the fawning true-believers, then you almost deserve the shafting you will get.

There is no reason at all why you shouldn't lessen your exposure to ridicule by, for example, making at least a token effort to spell words correctly. That is called taking your life in your own hands, and I will be the first to applaud and encourage you if I see any evidence of your doing it.

Incidentally, weren't you supposed to go to hospital yesterday? I sure hope it isn't another case of "bouncing", i.e. having your admission postponed. If that has happened now, you have every reason to be annoyed at the system, and I would share your annoyance.

I had to laugh at someone commenting that Mary Horney was a woman of substance and achievements. Substance, that's for sure, but I think I'd tend to quibble about the achievements. LOL

Look on the right-hand side of your keyboard, Транссибирская, and you'll see a key that reads "page down". Use that to skip over things you don't want to read. Or did someone appoint you the moderator or People's Kommissar for Determining Exactly What People are Interested In and defining what is on and off topic?

Kimble, I haven't heard anything about Horney's plans for Portlaoise Hospital, but I wouldn't put anything past her. She is a very capable woman - capable of anything!

If I come across as this or that, you have to remember that I am given to disseminating дезинформация, for my own reasons and fun. I'm sure Trans-Siberian will be happy to enlighten you as to what that means and is. ROFL

The tital of the tread is laois local elections.Im sticking to information that falls under that category.Like most people here.Im not trying to be a moderator.
I know it is easy to stray off topic but your discussion with kimble has nothing to do with elections. Its nothing personal.
